How to Select a Good Yoga Teacher Training Course
Nowadays, Yoga has become very popular. There are so many ways
and styles to practice it, and you can find a yoga institution in almost every
street of any big city. If you are ready to take your practice to the next
level or you have been practicing yoga for some time or to share your passion
with other students, then maybe following a yoga teacher training is a worthy
idea.
There is no doubt that there are many good courses all over
the world. But, since India is the birthplace of Yoga, following a teacher
training in India permits you not only come to be a yoga teacher but also to
experience the yogic lifestyle and the origin country of yoga. A teacher training
course should absolutely cover the subsequent topics in its program: background
of yoga (origin, history, philosophy of yoga), instruction & benefits of
asanas, how to arrange a good yoga class, how to give students modifications,
initiation of chanting and meditation. If you have sufficient time, you can select
to follow a teacher training course spread over a specific amount of time.
Most courses offer classes during the weekends, and the
course takes about 1-3 years to complete. If you would like involvement in the
yogic lifestyle and you want to do your course in a short period, then you can
also find small intensive teacher training courses. They can be done in a
period of about 4-6 weeks. In India, there are numerous Ashrams offering a yoga teacher
training course. An ashram is a place engaged mainly in learning and provides
simple accommodation. This helps you to disconnect from modern life habits and
luxury. Following a course in an ashram is not essential, but it is helpful for
you to have a better understanding of the yogic lifestyle and to grow spiritually
and mentally.
To gain more trustworthiness as a teacher, it is a good idea
to trail a course at a Yoga Alliance certified yoga school. That allows you to
register with Yoga Alliance later as a registered yoga teacher. There are
500-hour, 300-hour, and 200-hour yoga
teacher training courses. The 200-hour course allows you to teach intermediate
and beginners level students. The 300-hour course is an advanced course, only
for advanced students. You can follow this course after completion of the
200-hour course. The 500-hour course is a combination of the 200 and 300-hour
course in 1 course. You can select to follow this if you nearly want to teach
yoga to advanced practitioners. The 500 course is a very intensive course of at
least two months of full-time classes.
